As we all know it's a new year and with a new year comes a new wardrobe or the idea you may need a new wardrobe. I never let go of my active wardrobe I just add in more pieces, I have a classic modern style, so it's easy for me to keep basics and essentials and just add on. I made a list of ten things you should never rid your closet of. No matter what trends or fads are rolling in hot off the runway or your favorite celebrities back there are some things you keep. These are items you may feel you haven't worn in a while, won't come back, or won't ever go out of style, but never ever count them out and here's why:
Pencil skirts have been in style since the day they came out. They are always classic, always easy to dress and one of my favorite go-to items in my closet. Throw on a pencil skirt with your favorite sweater, blouse, or t-shirt and a great piece of outerwear and you're out the door.
White T-shirts & Button Downs
I shouldn't have to really get into this, but a clean, crisp, simple white top can go a very long way. I remember when I was growing up my mother would always say "white goes with everything." And true enough having a properly fitted white top is something you may see yourself wearing often throughout the years.
Long Maxi Jackets
Long Maxi Jackets make my list because they always pull your clothing together nicely. So those too short, shorts, or that outfit that's just missing something can be missing that piece you throw on around your shoulders, cuff the sleeves and head out. I think lightweight's are better for where I live, but no matter what great maintenance and a cute long coat can go far.
I know there are millions of colors you want to try, just don't throw out the classic red! A great shade of red can transform your entire face. I feel more confident and like a totally different person when I wear red lipstick, being lip color is the only thing I'm willing to put on my face other than the occasional mascara.
Face it they're not going away! Personally I like the fit and they seem to outline the body perfectly. I love them and unlike other jean trends I don't see them leaving your favorite stores.
I chose crop tops because they never went anywhere. Paired with a nice high waist bottom and they are every girls staple in the summer. A crop top can be dressed and paired in a number of ways from showing little to nothing to showing it all. Crop tops have range without being complex, expensive purchases.
High Waist Bottoms
High waist is here to stay as well and I prefer a high waist pant over any other rise because they hide your problem areas and allow more range and versatility in your wardrobe without making you feel uncomfortable.
Ankle Strap Sandals
I've had the same few pairs of ankle strap sandals I would say for about 6 years or more. They're nude and when I need a nice ankle strap sandal to wear with just about any outfit, they're the ones I go to. So no matter how long it's been unless it's been since the 90s the shoes are a classic staple and getting them in nude and black.
Little Black Dress
No explanation needed.
Maybe this is just a personal preference. I like stud earrings, but I like the femininity of a cute chunky stud. They add just that pop of girl to your outfits whether they're shaped like a flower or any other thing you're going for, they add just the right touch without weighing down your earlobes to your shoulders.
